Career Guidance
Our admissions department offers career guidance to students. This includes meeting with a counselor to discuss your career goals, such as selecting the right program, changing programs, exploring career options, finding employment or internships, etc. Admissions may require multiple sessions (three or four) with a counselor who will assess your interests, skills, values, and other factors that affect career decisions.
- Our counselors are experienced and qualified professionals who can help you make informed decisions about your future.
- We offer a variety of services, including individual counseling, group workshops, and online resources.
- Our services are confidential and free of charge.
If you are interested in learning more about our career guidance or have additional questions about a program, please contact us today. We would be happy to answer any questions you have and help you get started on your journey to a successful career.
Graduate Workshops
These workshops focus on supporting graduate students who are conducting research and preparing for graduation and beginning the job search upon graduating. Collaborating with our resource library, we offer workshops that will prepare you to write proper resumes and cover letters, dressing for an interview, job search strategies, and setting up mock interviews.
Additional one-on-one workshops guide students in applying for right position in their field, presenting a portfolio their work, optimizing their online presence, and other topics important for successful careers in their fields.
Guest Speakers
On occasion, FBA will invite a guest speaker to join a class and speak on behalf of their experience in the field or a specific topic.
Guest speakers can be a great tool for the improvement of a class, because it offers a new perspective and variety in the way the industry is perceived, while providing important specific subjects that are often omitted from a regular class or to enhance a curriculum subject from that particular program. That in turn brings a better learning experience to the students, the teacher and even the guest speaker.
Because of the way this technique is used, a better one-on-one approach is achieved, as well as a better understanding of a topic that otherwise would be very dull or unclear. Students have a chance to learn about said specific topic in a way that helps them get fully involved in the class and actively engage in a more approachable way of teaching.
On-Site Job Fairs
Florida Barber Academy holds on site job fairs to provide graduate candidates with an opportunity to learn about career opportunities in person.
Since FBA values the time of all of our applicants and since we are fortunate to have wonderful graduates and local business owners come out to our onsite job fairs, only those students who are currently enrolled in a Florida Barber Academy program or have graduated in the same calendar year as the Job Fair are invited to attend.
RSVPs will be required. Check our Calendar of events to see when the next job fair will be held.
